The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has recently issued three new opinion letters that address common questions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). While the opinion letters address specific situations that are not applicable to every business, they do provide insight into how the DOL interprets various aspects of the FLSA.
The recent topics are:
- Rounding employee work hours
- Whether a trade organization’s paralegals are exempt from minimum wage and overtime requirements under Section 13(a)(1) of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
- How to calculate overtime pay for nondiscretionary bonuses
