The recently passed spending bill includes a provision to allow the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to exceed the annual cap of 66,000 H2-B visas.  It allows, if there is a need, to increase the number of visas up to 129,547.  The H-2B visa program allows U.S. employers to hire foreign nationals during peak seasons, primarily in landscaping, hospitality, seafood processing, and recreation jobs.  To obtain a visa the open position must be a one time or seasonal position that cannot be filled by a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
