The Equal Employement Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has recently proposed a significant change to the annual Employer Informaiton Report (EEO-1). Under the proposal, employers subject to the reporting requirements, must begin reporting pay data as part of their annual EEO-1 report.
Most federal contractors and private employers with 100 or more employees must file the annual report, which includes information on employees by job category, sex, race, and ethnicity by September 30th of each year. Under the new proposal the report will now include pay data, broken into 12 different pay bands.
The purpose of this new proposal is to help the EEOC and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) enforce existing prohibitions against discriminatory pay practices.
